Apply Interventions to a Match

Organizers can force results, pause, resume, cancel, or roll back actions on individual matches when something goes wrong during live play.

Match interventions let you override or adjust the state of a single match without affecting the rest of the bracket. Use these controls when a team doesn't show up, a technical problem disrupts play, or a forced result needs to be corrected. Every intervention is written to the audit log automatically.

Step by step

Force a result

Use this when a match outcome needs to be set manually — for example, because one team forfeited or failed to appear.

  1. Open the match from Live Operations or the Structure match list.
  2. Click Force result.
  3. Enter the final scores or select the winning side.
  4. Add a note explaining the reason (recommended for the audit trail).
  5. Click Confirm. The bracket updates immediately.

Pause a match

  1. Open the match.
  2. Click Pause match.
  3. Confirm. The match is suspended and participants are notified.

Resume a match

  1. Open a paused match.
  2. Click Resume match.
  3. Confirm. Play continues from where it was suspended.

Cancel a match

  1. Open the match.
  2. Click Cancel match.
  3. Enter the reason.
  4. Confirm.

Cancelling a match removes it from the bracket flow. This can affect downstream matchups and seeding. Use only when a match cannot be completed and should not count toward bracket progression.

Roll back an intervention

If an intervention was applied by mistake, you can undo the most recent action.

  1. Open the match.
  2. In the Intervention history panel, find the action you want to reverse.
  3. Click Roll back.
  4. Confirm. The match returns to the state it was in before the intervention.

Not all interventions are reversible once downstream bracket changes have been applied. The UI will warn you if a rollback would have cascading effects.

View intervention history

Every action taken on a match is listed in the Intervention history panel at the bottom of the match detail view. Each entry shows the timestamp, the staff member who acted, and the action taken.
